Peekskill Brewery Announces New Head Brewer As Jeff O'Neil Departs
Thursday, February 23, 2012
Women in the NYC Beer Industry to Unite in Manhattan
The event is organized by Emily Garland, Founder and CEO of Tapped Craft Beer events, and Sonya Giacobbe, co-owner of Kelso Beer Co.
"The idea for NYC Women in Beer originally came to me because I'm interested in meeting more women in the industry,” said Garland. “Sonya and I are thrilled with the response. Our hope is that this event will not only provide women with an opportunity to expand their networks and discover new business opportunities, but also encourage dialogue and education among different sides of the the industry that may not frequently interact, leading to a strengthening of the community and a foundation for further growth and innovation.”
Giacobbe added, “Networking is the grease in any field of work. It's through networking that unexpected opportunities, surprising collaborations and new ideas are formed. For whatever reason, most women in the industry just aren't in the positions that afford them the chance to network on a regular basis, so we wanted to create that space. Also, beer people are good people, so why not organize a night of drinking with them?"
Admission is free but an RSVP is required. There will be $5 draft beers during the event, which will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Women from many notable breweries, bars, distributors and other beer-related organizations have registered, including the Brooklyn Brewery, Peekskill Brewery, Union Beer Distributors, Blind Tiger, Brooklyn Homebrew and Yankee Brew News.
“It is a very exciting time for beer in New York City – I'm excited to see where this event could lead us, and encourage all women in the industry to attend!" said Garland.

Peekskill Brewery Snags Top Brewer
Peekskill, NY- The Peekskill Brewery is pleased to officially announce Jeff O’Neil as their Brewmaster effective November 1, 2011. He recently announced his departure from Ithaca Beer Co. after nine years. O’Neil is a multiple award-winning brewer who most recently received a silver medal at the 2011 Great American Beer Festival. Under his direction in 2008, Ithaca Beer Co. received the honor of the F.X. Matt Cup as New York State’s Best Brewery.
“Chief” is a graduate of the Siebel Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL, a member of the Institute of Brewing and Distilling in London, England and the Vice President of the Master Brewers Association of America- District Western New York. He began his brewing career in the 90s in the San Francisco Bay Area at the 20 Tank Brewery, Gordon Biersch, Jupiter Brewing and Drake’s Brewing, before moving to Ithaca Beer Co. in the Finger Lakes region of New York in 2002.
On his decision to leave Ithaca he says, “I’m moving away from a bigger production model for this awesome opportunity to get really creative and have an intimate connection with those drinking the beer. This is a smaller project but it’s still accessible because of the close proximity to New York City. I’m thrilled for the chance to work with the Berardis and Chef Sean Corcoran, and everyone should expect amazing things to come from Peekskill from here on out. As my idol Steve Martin once said, ‘Let’s get small.’”
O’Neil’s style complements Peekskill Brewery’s mission to bring hand crafted American beer and innovative pub food to the Hudson Valley region. “Having one of the most talented brewers in the country join our team is beyond exciting. Jeff’s skills and experience will further our journey in being a culinary destination and ultimately the premier brewpub on the East Coast,” said Peekskill Brewery owner Keith Berardi.

Peekskill Brewery Ready to Celebrate 3rd Birthday!
This annual event focuses on local craft and creativity, drawing on Peekskill and surrounding areas to contribute handmade art, music, food, and of course, beer.
The main attraction-the tasting of fine craft beers- will take place under a tent and will include sought-after beers from longtime brewer friends like Kelso of Brooklyn and Ithaca Brewing Co., and new additions to the local New York brewery scene.
As a community event, the day also features a schedule of free live music ranging from funk, punk, rock and indie. The bands range from national to regional to local acts, but all got their start in the Peekskill/Cortlandt Manor area.
Local vendors and restaurants will set up shop to showcase food items, vintage accessories, handcrafted jewelry, landscape photography, sculpture and knitwear. In addition, family friendly activities such as pumpkin decorating, face painting and a bounce castle will be avaialble with a suggested donation fee of $5. Proceeds of the kids activities and games will be donated to a local charity.
The Peekskill Brewery’s Birthday Bash is an event designed to epitomize the local and independent spirit shared both by the Brewery and the artists of the community.

Peekskill Brewery To Host PB Pig Out: A Craft Beer and Pork Event
For Immediate Release
June 1, 2011- “It would be disingenuous to the animal to not make the most of the whole beast” (Nose to Tail: The Whole Beast, By Fergus Henderson) . The Peekskill Brewery will be hosting its first ever “PB Pig Out” on Sunday, June 26th. Chef Sean Corcoran, a longtime fan of Fergus Henderson’s Nose to Tail: The Whole Beast is using this concept as inspiration to use every part of the pig and a create a complete feast with seasonal sides and Peekskill Brewery beers.
The event will allow for over 20 dishes to be made from the pig and served in a large picnic format. Tented tables will provide a relaxed and casual atmosphere to enjoy live music, eat and enjoy Peekskill Brewery beer from 1pm-4pm.
Corcoran will be available that day to discuss the dishes and his technique. “The idea is simple- paying tribute to the animal by using all of its parts- not just those that have been commercialized in our culture. This is going to be fun,” said Corcoran.

Blue Point Brewery To Tap World's Largest Cask
Cask Ale, or Cask Beer, is the term used in the U.S. to refer to unfiltered and unpasteurized beer that is conditioned and served directly from a cask. Attendees at the Blue Point Brewing Company event will be able to walk right up to the cask and get the freshest, highest quality beer they've ever tasted. "This is such a unique opportunity and such a fun event, we look forward to it all year long," said Mark Burford, Brewmaster at the Blue Point Brewing Company.
The Blue Point Brewing Company's cask holds nearly 10,000 pints of beer and, this year, is filled with BP Toxic Sludge, a new style Black IPA, hopped at four stages of the brewing process to combine a hoppy India Pale Ale with a richer, darker malt base for a full bodied beer that's big on flavor. For many, "this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to taste the beer right out of the tank like the brewers always do," said Burford.
More than 25 other breweries have been invited to attend and showcase their own special cask brews. Joining the lineup will be several of Long Island's hometown favorites, including Black Forest Brew Haus, Blind Bat Brewery, BrickHouse Brewery, Brooklyn Brewery, Great South Bay Brewery, Greenport Harbor Brewing Co., John Harvard's Brew House, Kelso of Brooklyn, Long Ireland Beer Company, and Southampton Ales & Lagers. Also scheduled to attend: Captain Lawrence Brewing Company (NY), Cricket Hill Brewery (NJ), Defiant Brewing Company (NY), Firestone Walker Brewing Company (CA), Green Flash Brewing Company (CA), Keegan Ales (NY), Peekskill Brewery (NY), Smuttynose Brewing Co. (NH), Southern Tier Brewing Company (NY), Stone Brewing Co. (CA), Stoudts Brewing Company (PA), Two Brothers Brewing Co. (IL), and others. Three of largest home brew clubs on Long Island, the Brewers East End Revival (B.E.E.R.), Long Island Beer and Malt Enthusiasts (LIMBE), and Rocky Point Artisan Brewers are preparing casks to be shared with festival attendees. Local BBQ restaurant and caterer, Bobbique, will offer food for sale. Live music will add to the day's festivities.
The Blue Point Cask Ales Festival will take place rain or shine on Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Blue Point Brewing Company located at 161 River Ave., Patchogue, NY 11772. General Admission tickets are $45.00 each, designated driver tickets are $15.00. Tickets can be purchased online at www.BluePointBrewing.com or at the brewery prior to event day. February 11, 2010 Peekskill, NY- The Peekskill Brewery has started the New Year in full force. The brewpub recently doubled its brewing capacity. The expansion will allow for a fuller showcase of Peekskill Brewery house brews, a major goal since its inception in September 2008.

As the year progresses, the Brewery will add gradually add in seasonal beers into its production schedule.
“The demand for our beers made our expansion both necessary and natural…and we plan on doing more. We will still continue to host guest breweries, but our mission has always been to make our own mark.
