2010 Great American Beer Festival

In 2009, 6 New York State breweries took home 8 medals. This year, three breweries took home four medals. The Belgian Summer Ale from Great Adirondack Brewing Company in Lake Placid, NY was a repeat winner in the French- and Belgian-Style Saison taking a Bronze medal after last year's silver.

The Shmaltz Brewing Company took home a medal as well. While the company is based in San Francisco, all of the beer is brewed in New York, with an entire line being named after characters from the Coney Island Freakshow in Coney Island, NY. I am claiming them as a New York brewery. Sue me GABF.

How is it possible that no Southern Tier beers are represented? Right now I'm enjoying an Oak Aged unEarthly IPA and it is the nectar of the Gods.

I cannot disparage any of the winners, of course, especially Ommegang, which makes great beers that are readily available in Virginia.
