Shmaltz Releases New Barrel Aged Beer

Shmaltz Brewing Company Celebrates the Summer Season with Barrel Aged Dark Ale
CHANUKAH IN KENTUCKY...in JULY!

Limited Release, Limited Markets, but Limitless Bourbon-Infused Flavor
in this 8% ABV Dark Ale Brewed with 8 Malts, 8 Hops
and Aged in Heaven Hill and Jim Beam Barrels

Clifton Park, NY -- Thursday, July 21, 2016 -- You may have heard of Christmas in July, a phrase that started in 1933 at a girls camp in North Carolina and was the title of a movie released in 1940. But what about our Hebrew Tribe? Why is there no Chanukah in July? And why should the southern hemisphere get to have all the winter holiday fun in July? Not to worry, Shmaltz Brewing is here for you with its extra special summer 2016 release of Chanukah in Kentucky...in July!

Shmaltz's latest rare and precious Chanukah in Kentucky...in July, a luscious dark ale aged in bourbon barrels, pairs perfectly with summer foods, favorite friends and family, and unique beer-loving palates. The barrel aged beauty is the result of freshly fermented Hanukkah, Chanukah: Pass the Beer
® aged in Heaven Hill and Jim Beam bourbon barrels. Eight months and many sensory tastings later, this latest Chosen Beer has developed an array of gifts for the beer lover's taste buds: complex flavors of dark cherry and dates, light coffee roast and bakers chocolate. A confection of toffee, caramel, hints of vanilla and maple all arise with the unmistakable aromas of barrel strength bourbon from the second-use boozy barrels."Chanukah in Kentucky...in July is a delightful experiment that leans on the 8 malts, 8 hops and bourbon-splashed woody oak to impart a rich flavor and medium body," says Richie Saunders, Head Brewer at Shmaltz. "It's a boundary-busting brew created just for our dedicated tribe of summer-loving craft beer freedom fighters."

Chanukah in Kentucky...in July is now available on draft at select chosen beer bars throughout the 35 states within Shmaltz's distribution network. Get it when you see it -- there's no miracles coming to keep the beer flowing once this batch is gone. This month, Shmaltz features Chanukah in Kentucky...in July
at launch events occurring in select cities across the country. Please see the list of events below.Additional launch events will be added on shmaltzbrewing.com/calendar

Shmaltz and Terrapin Releasing 6th Edition of Reunion Ale

Reunion Ale '16® -- A Beer For Hope (with Terrapin Beer)
Complex Dark Ale Brewed with Chocolate, Cocoa Nibs, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Ginger & Mexican Chili Pepper
Proceeds to Benefit the Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research

Clifton Park, NY -- Thursday, July 7, 2016 -- In celebration of its 20th Anniversary, Shmaltz Brewing Company continues its efforts to raise funds for the Institute for Myeloma and Bone Cancer Research (IMBCR) by collaborating with Terrapin Beer Company for the sixth year to brew Reunion Ale '16 -- A Beer For Hope® (8% ABV). Myeloma is the 14th leading cause of cancer deaths, and in 2014, an estimated 24,050 new cases were discovered. Each year, Reunion Ale® is brewed in memory of Virginia MacLean, a dedicated cancer research supporter who lost her own battle with Multiple Myeloma in 2007. MacLean's wish to continue building awareness on behalf of the IMBCR is achieved through her dear friends and co-workers Alan Shapiro and Pete Slosberg's (creator of Pete's Wicked Ale™) work with Shmaltz and Terrapin for the annual release of Reunion Ale®.

The brand new recipe for Reunion Ale '16® features a Complex Dark Ale with Chocolate, Cocoa Nibs, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Ginger, and Mexican Chili Pepper. Reunion Ale® is exclusively brewed at Shmaltz in Clifton Park, NY with Terrapin Brewmaster Brian "Spike" Buckowski traveling from Georgia to Upstate NY to help brew the latest collaboration. The Reunion project has raised more than $130,000 for the IMBCR. Craft beer fans can donate money directly to the IMBCR at Shmaltz & Terrapin hosted Reunion® fundraising events and on
imbcr.org.
"Reunion 2016 takes a variety of crystal malts, as well as Munich, Kiln Amber and Victory malts to balance elements brought by a Belgian Monastery yeast," says Shmaltz Lead Brewer Richie Saunders. "Together, subtle spice notes compliment the characteristics of the favorite autumn style. Our Shmaltz spin on the style includes extra special ingredients adding our typical flare -- chili pepper extract, bourbon vanilla, ginger and cocoa nibs. Reunion 2016 brings a rich, deep brown/ruby color with a classic Belgian aroma complemented by spices with a subtle heat in the background. The smooth flavor of Belgian yeast and silky vanilla provides a mellow sipping experience with a slight bite from the chili pepper and ginger later in the finish."
National Reunion® fundraising events will occur throughout the summer and will be announced in the coming weeks. Events will also be listed on Shmaltz's event calendar at shmaltzbrewing.com.

About IMBCRThe Institute for Myeloma and Bone Cancer Research is dedicated to independent research on developing effective therapies that improve the quality of life and longevity of patients with myeloma and bone cancer. Myeloma and bone cancer are two of the fastest growing diseases in the world, afflicting more than one million people in the U.S. alone.

Brewed with New York State Malts and Hops,
Fundraiser to Benefit a New Brewer Training Program

Wednesday, February 24, 2016
Launch of Brewers Wanted Pale Ale® @ NYC Beer Week 2016
Brewer's Choice
Sander's Studios, 525 Waverly Ave, Brooklyn, NY
Time: 6 pm - 9:30 pm

Clifton Park, NY -- Friday, February 19, 2016 -- Just in time for NYC Beer Week 2016, Shmaltz Brewing Company releases a new limited edition seasonal exclusively in New York State, Brewers Wanted Pale Ale -- Work For Beer® (5.5% ABV). With the number of U.S. breweries growing to more than 4,000 in 2015 -- for the first time since the 1870s -- and New York State producing 238 breweries of its own, the demand for skilled brewers is at a record high. Shmaltz helps raise awareness of New York's need for passionate men and women to learn the craft of brewing with a portion of proceeds from Brewers Wanted Pale Ale® directly supporting their new brewer training program. Brewers Wanted Pale Ale® is now available throughout New York State and will be featured at Brewer's Choice during NYC Beer Week 2016 on Wednesday, February 24, 2016.

Shmaltz Brewing teamed up with Schenectady County Community College (SCCC), the Greater Capital Region Workforce Development Boards and fellow New York State breweries to start their first regional Brewers Training Program. A portion of sales from Brewers Wanted Pale Ale® will help train new brewers and support SCCC's efforts to create an Associate's Degree in Brewing.

Brewers Wanted Pale Ale® is a bright and crisp pale ale brewed with 50% NYS 2-row malt, as well as other American malt favorites, hopped with a burst of warrior, simcoe and mosaic and dry hopped with NYS cascade.

Shmaltz Proprietor Jeremy Cowan comments, "In 2013, I made Clifton Park, NY the home of Shmaltz Brewing Company. It is incredibly rewarding to invest the future of our company in a community that's excited about new job opportunities in the local marketplace. Our state and regional workforce development partners have been incredibly responsive to our need for skilled brewers and SCCC is leading the way to develop brewer training programs that will help our industry grow and thrive. What better way to celebrate this public, private, academic partnership, and raise a few dollars and awareness of our need for brewers than with a delicious craft beer, brewed in NY with NYS malts and hops and sold exclusively in New York State."

"Thanks to companies like Shmaltz Brewing and Governor Cuomo's efforts to spur growth, the craft beer industry has risen to a new level in New York State," says Empire State Development President, CEO & Commissioner Howard Zemsky. "The company's innovative partnership with Schenectady County Community College is creating both educational and employment opportunities for students and graduates in a booming industry."

"The Greater Capital Region Workforce Development Boards are proud to partner with Shmaltz Brewing and Schenectady County Community College in a public/private/academic initiative to strengthen the pipeline of workers for the growing Craft Beer Industry in New York State," says Gail B. Breen, Executive Director of Workforce Development Board, Inc. (Fulton, Montgomery and Schoharie Counties). "It is the mission of the GCRWDBs to create a quality workforce for New York State businesses."

"We are very pleased to be partnering with the Shmaltz Brewing Company and other New York State breweries, along with the Greater Capital Region Workforce Development Boards, to start the first regional Brewers Training Program in the Capital Region," says Dr. Steady H. Moono, President of Schenectady County Community College. "At SCCC, we are passionate about developing innovative programs such as this one that trains our students for well-paying and in-demand jobs. We are grateful that a portion of the proceeds from Brewers Wanted Pale Ale® will support our efforts to create an Associate's Degree in Brewing, as well as help build upon our successful credential craft brew course currently in session."

"We congratulate Shmaltz Brewing Company on the launch of this new beer that not only uses New York State local ingredients and supports our farmers, but also highlights the essence of the state's craft beverage producers, who work together to benefit the industry as a whole," adds New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Commissioner Richard A. Ball. "Training is key to the continued success of our thriving agri-businesses, and we applaud Shmaltz Brewing and all partners involved on the creation and promotion of a program that will focus on the growing workforce needs of craft breweries and encourage future producers."

"We have been seeking talented people to join the brewery. But while Shmaltz, and fellow Upstate, NY Breweries, have found that there is no shortage of men and women who want to work in a brewery there aren't enough brewing schools and training programs to teach them the skills they need to start their brewing career," comments Shmaltz Production Manager, Christian Ryan. "Our Regional Workforce Development Boards and SCCC have truly stepped up to help Shmaltz, our partners, Saranac, Adirondack Brewery, and Rare Form Brewing, create and fund a training program that will meet our current and future workforce needs."

Two standout collaborations bring Shmaltz back into the fold with Missouri's Cathedral Square Brewery and Georgia's Terrapin Brewing. Reigniting its "Immaculate Collaboration" with Cathedral Square, the two breweries resurrect St. Lenny's® Belgian Style Rye Double India Pale Ale. Shmaltz teams up for the fifth year-in-a-row with Terrapin Beer Company and Alan Shapiro (founder of SBS Imports) to create Reunion Ale '15 -- A Beer For Hope, a dark Imperial Brown Ale brewed with Pumpkin, Cinnamon, Chocolate, Cocoa Nibs, Ginger, Nutmeg, Vanilla, and Chili Pepper Extract. A portion of the proceeds from Reunion Ale '15® are donated directly to The Institute for Myeloma and Bone Cancer Research (IMBCR).

Shmaltz's latest offering in the (518) Beer Sessions Series: Summer Session® pays tribute to the historic Saratoga Race Course (Saratoga Spring, NY) located a short distance from Shmaltz's Upstate New York Brewery. An interpretation of the classic Saratoga Race Course cocktail, the Saratoga Sunrise, (518) Summer Session® is a refreshing and light bodied Belgian Wit brewed with New York State wheat, dosed with sweet orange peel and balanced with a pinch of pomegranate.

Please see the detailed information below for Shmaltz's 2015 craft beer special releases. Additional releases will be announced in the coming weeks.

Bock Bock® (10% ABV)Bock Bock® is a burly Imperial American Bock aged over 3 months in half Jim Beam and half Heaven Hill whiskey barrels. Fusing Old World brewing traditions with bold, flavor-driven American ingenuity, Bock Bock® is a fine example of how Shmaltz continues to lift lagers to the creative heights that ales have enjoyed in the American craft beer movement. Brewed with oatmeal and rye, and emerging from the barrel softened and silky, Bock Bock® is as rare and special as it is highly coveted.
Wishbone Session Double IPA® (8% ABV)Following this past winter's release of Shmaltz's Anniversary Black Session Barleywine (Jewbelation 18®), Shmaltz continues a fun new tradition with the special release of a "sessionable" double IPA, Wishbone®. Shmaltz, meaning chicken fat in Yiddish, pays homage to its cultural roots with a delightful session beer loaded with the tropical edge of hops including calypso, citra and amarillo; the IPA you've been wishing for!
Hops In He'brew Variety Pack® Ever wonder How To Say "Hops" In He'brew?! With the release of the Hops In He'brew Variety Pack®, Shmaltz gives a brand new meaning to "adult education." The variety pack is filled with equal parts of Genesis Dry-Hopped Session Ale® (Silver Medal, World Beer Championships), Hop Manna IPA® ("The Best Beers of 2012" by Esquire.com and Gold Medal, World Beer Championships), Shmaltz's latest annual brew Slingshot American Craft Lager® (97 Rating, RateBeer.com), and the new Wishbone Session Double IPA®. Variety packs are the spice of the craft beer world and the fourth most popular craft beer package in the country. Combine the enthusiasm for variety packs with the fervor over hoppy beers and you have a match made in craft beer heaven.
St. Lenny's®: The Immaculate Collaboration (10% ABV)For its 10th Anniversary in 2006, Shmaltz brewed the first batch of Bittersweet Lenny's R.I.P.A.® to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the death of prophetic Jewish comedian Lenny Bruce. The rye-based double IPA went on to win two Gold medals at the World Beer Championships (2010 & 2011), and it currently holds a 97 Rating on Ratebeer.com and 99 Rating with the BeerAdvocate beer bros. Its barrel-aged incarnation, R.I.P.A. on Rye® took home Silver medals at both the Great American Beer Festival (2010, Wood & Barrel Aged Strong Beer Category) and National Wood-Aged Beer Competition (2010).

St. Lenny's® flips the award-winning rye double IPA on its head using a custom Belgian yeast blend (2 Trappist and 1 Abbey) with the original R.I.P.A.® recipe. With a spicy punch of rye and caraway, fruity clove and anise flavors, and a gorgeous Belgian character, St. Lenny's® is destined to intrigue hop heads and Belgian beer fans alike.

"The Immaculate Collaboration" is a labor of love, shvitz and shtick between two longtime friends and colleagues, Jeremy Cowan (Founder, Shmaltz Brewing) and Brian Neville (Brewmaster, Cathedral Square Brewery). As a disciple of Belgian-style creations, Neville suggested the use of their Belgian yeast to create a monk-inspired version of Bittersweet Lenny's R.I.P.A.®. The result is an amazing flavor profile of hopped-up goodness rounded out with a soft Belgian character. The Belgian Style Imperial Dark Rye Ale will be distributed throughout Shmaltz's national sales network.
Reunion Ale '15® -- A Beer For Hope (8% ABV)Shmaltz Brewing proudly joins Terrapin Beer Company and Alan Shapiro (founder of SBS Imports) to participate in brewing Reunion Ale '15 - A Beer for Hope®. Reunion® is brewed annually in memory of Virginia MacLean, a dedicated cancer research supporter who lost her own battle with Multiple Myeloma in 2007 and a dear friend and co-worker of Alan Shapiro and Pete Slosberg's (creator of Pete's Wicked Ale™). As a tribute to Virginia, a portion of the proceeds from Reunion Ale '15® is donated to the Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research (IMBCR) in Virginia's name.

Reunion Ale '15® is a dark Imperial Brown Ale brewed with Pumpkin, Cinnamon, Chocolate, Cocoa Nibs, Ginger, Nutmeg, Vanilla, and Chili Pepper Extract. Following its initial release in 2007, the Reunion project has raised more than $130,000 for the IMBCR through bottle and draft sales of Reunion®, retailer fundraising events, and private donations. Beer lovers can also donate money directly through the Reunion website, the Reunion Facebook page, or the IMBCR website.
SHE'BREW Beer -- Triple IPA (11% ABV)Brewed to celebrate International Women's Collaboration Brew Day (IWCBD), the first ever SHE'BREW Beer - Triple IPA is hand crafted by the women & female friends (& a few dudes too) of the brewery. SHE'BREW Beer is no joke with its seductive blend of Calypso, Citra, Crystal and Amarillo hops and shining bright at 11% ABV. Shmaltz will donate a portion of proceeds from SHE'BREW sales to the Pink Boots Society scholarship fund (a global non-profit that aims to advance women in the beer business) as well as to Girls Inc. of the Greater Capital Region (Albany, NY) whose mission is to inspire all girls to be "Strong, Smart and Bold."

Nikki Cavanaugh (co-founder of Rushing Duck Brewing Co.) collaborated on the SHE'BREW recipe and joined the cast of characters at Shmaltz Brewing Co. including Dora Phillip (co-owner of The Hollow Bar + Kitchen), Jennifer Allen (Saratoga Eagle Sales and Service), Tara Akstull, Jaclyn Papa and Shmaltz Brewing Co. staff Brigid Clare, Liz Nagle, Amanda Gomez, Shelby Schneider, Chris Dufrain, Richie Saunders and Shmaltz Proprietor Jeremy Cowan. Photographer Heidi Benjamin helped the Brewsters glam out to the inspiration of the New York Dolls for the first SHE'BREW performance. Shmaltz's own Nick Scammacca produced a rockin' video documenting the creation of the debut SHE'BREW Beer, which can be viewed at this link.
(518) Summer Session (5.18% ABV)For more than 150 years, one of the most celebrated sporting events in American culture has taken place right in the backyard of Shmaltz Brewing's Upstate New York brewery at the historic Saratoga Race Course (Saratoga Springs, NY). Shmaltz's latest addition to its locals-only (518) Beer Sessions Series honors the oldest racetrack in the United States and the proud tradition that runs each racing season.

An interpretation of the classic Saratoga Race Course cocktail, the Saratoga Sunrise, (518) Summer Session® is a refreshing and light bodied Belgian Wit with a fresh and floral aroma. The unfiltered summer sipper is brewed with New York State wheat, dosed with sweet orange peel and balanced with a pinch of pomegranate. At a highly sessionable 5.18% ABV, Shmaltz's glowing gold refresher will quench the thirst of 518 locals and visiting racing fans all season long. (518) Summer Session® is available at bars/restaurants exclusively within the 518 area code.

Now brewing exclusively in Clifton Park, NY -- Thursday, July 23, 2015 -- Hot on the heels of its 2nd Anniversary extravaganza, Shmaltz Brewing Company joins forces yet again with Missouri's Cathedral Square Brewery and Georgia's Terrapin Brewing to bring back two summer treats, including the third resurrection of St. Lenny's®, in honor of patron saint Lenny Bruce, and a brand-new recipe for Reunion Ale '15 -- A Beer for Hope®. Rejoice! St. Lenny's Belgian Style Rye Double India Pale Ale returns with Shmaltz and Cathedral Square's "Immaculate Collaboration." Shmaltz teams up for the fifth year-in-a-row with Terrapin Beer Company, Alan Shapiro (founder of SBS Imports) and Pete Slosberg's (creator of Pete's Wicked Ale™) to create Reunion Ale '15, a special dark ale brewed with Pumpkin, Cinnamon, Chocolate, Cocoa Nibs, Ginger, Nutmeg, Vanilla, and Chili Pepper Extract. Reunion Ale '15® marks Shmaltz's first ever pumpkin brew, they finally gave in to the pumpkin beer craze! A portion of the proceeds from Reunion Ale '15® are donated directly to The Institute for Myeloma and Bone Cancer Research. National fundraising events will occur throughout the fall; events to be announced on Shmaltz's event calendar at www.shmaltzbrewing.com.
St. Lenny's® (July - August 2015)For its 10th Anniversary in 2006, Shmaltz brewed the first batch of Bittersweet Lenny's R.I.P.A.® to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the death of prophetic Jewish comedian Lenny Bruce. The rye-based double IPA went on to win two Gold medals at the World Beer Championships (2010 & 2011), and it currently holds a 97 Rating with RateBeer.com and a 99 rating from the beer bros at BeerAdvocate.

The Belgian Style Imperial Dark Rye Ale will be distributed throughout Shmaltz's national sales network, and a limited edition 750 cork finished bottles will be available in Missouri and at the Shmaltz Tasting Room in Upstate, New York.

Cowan notes, "After a decade of shared brewing connections, I couldn't be more excited to once again cook up St. Lenny's with Cathedral Square's audacious brewmaster Brian Neville. I'm still mad that he stole my thunder by coming up with such exceptional shtick -- but can't wait to share the amazing flavors with our cult of He'brew® enthusiasts."
Shmaltz Brewing Company and St. Louis' own Cathedral Square Brewery celebrate the national launch of St. Lenny's®: The Immaculate Collaboration (10% ABV) with two "Meet the Brewers" events during St. Louis Craft Beer Week 2015. Don't miss this special opportunity to schmooze with Jeremy Cowan and Brian Neville as these two gurus preach the gospel of beer at Flying Saucer (July 31) and 21st Street Brewers Bar (Aug 1). At both events, each brewery will pour St. Lenny's® as well as several craft beer selections from their acclaimed portfolios.Reunion Ale '15 - A Beer for Hope® (September - October 2015)Shmaltz Brewing proudly joins Terrapin Beer Company and Alan Shapiro (founder of SBS Imports) to participate in brewing Reunion Ale '15 - A Beer for Hope®.

"At 8%, Reunion will have a sturdy backbone, but a light elegance from the Belgian Monastery Yeast mixed with the delicate additions of hand selected spices and seasonal flavors," says Shmaltz Lead Brewer Richie Saunders. "A pumpkin beer for Belgian beer lovers, Reunion will stir the senses with its light airy aroma that blends the seasonal favorites with a traditional dark Belgian Abbey-Styled Ale. The nose will be rich with the warm aroma of cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin, chocolate, cracked pepper and ginger. The flavors will be smooth caramel malts, mild chocolate, warming cinnamon and nutmeg with refreshing ginger and lingering chili pepper. This is certainly not a pumpkin beer to miss out on!"

Terrapin Brewmaster Brian "Spike" Buckowski will be onsite at the Shmaltz brewery to brew Reunion Ale '15® with Lead Brewer Richie Saunders on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Media are welcome to attend the brewing session for an exclusive look into the truly collaborative spirit behind this extra special fundraiser beer.

Reunion Ale '15® will be available in 22 oz bottles, as well as limited amounts of draft in the nearly 40 U.S. states and in Western Canada through Shmaltz's distribution network.

New Beer To Appear In Shmaltz Mixed Pack

Tuesday, April 28, 2015 -- There's no better time for a delicious hopped-up variety pack then the kickoff of summer, and Shmaltz Brewing Company's got all the hopheads covered with the return of the Hops In HE'BREW Variety Pack®. Available at retail stores across the country starting in May 2015, the HE'BREW 12-pack is one of the very few hop-centric variety packs currently on shelves that includes a double IPA, Wishbone Session Double IPA®. IPA's are the most popular single beer style in the American craft beer market right now, and there is little indication that our desire for the hop leaf in our brews is abating anytime soon. It's time to celebrate warmer days with your favorite hoppy HE'BREWs!

Hops In HE'BREW Variety Pack® (May - August 2015)
Ever wonder How To Say "Hops" In He'brew?! With the release of the Hops In HE'BREW Variety Pack®, Shmaltz Brewing gives a brand new meaning to "adult education." Kickstart your summer with a refreshing variety pack, filled with equal parts of Genesis Dry-Hopped Session Ale® (Silver Medal, World Beer Championships), Hop Manna IPA® (95 Rating, Ratebeer.com and Gold Medal, World Beer Championships), Shmaltz's latest addition to the year-round line-up, Slingshot American Craft Lager® (97 Rating, RateBeer.com), and the new Wishbone Session Double IPA®. Variety packs are the spice of the craft beer world and the fourth most popular craft beer package in the country. Combine the enthusiasm for variety packs with the fervor over hoppy beers and you have a match made in craft beer heaven.

Wishbone Session Double IPA® (8% ABV, June - August 2015, 12oz 4-Packs & Draft)Following this past winter's release of Shmaltz's Anniversary Black Session Barleywine (Jewbelation 18®), Shmaltz continues a fun new tradition with the special release of a "sessionable" extreme beer in this case, double IPA, Wishbone®. Shmaltz, meaning chicken fat in Yiddish, pays homage to its cultural roots with a delightful bold IPA, loaded with the tropical edge of hops including calypso, citra and Amarillo. Pure craft beer comfort cooked up for session after session of hoppy taste bud delight.

What should Shmaltz call Wishbone...a single, a double...a Sessionable beer that falls somewhere in the middle? Wishbone® is not as aggressive as the 10% Bittersweet Sweet Lenny's RIPA® and stronger than the 6.8% Hop Manna IPA®. With a tradition of brewing extreme beer and a love for pushing style boundries, Wishbone Session Double IPA® is just right. Not too big, not too small, chock full of juicy hops balanced by light pale malt to create a highly drinkable beer.

"Wishbone pours a clear, bright gold with a fluffy white head and light, sticky lacing throughout the glass," said Shmaltz Brewing Company's Lead Brewer Richie Saunders. "Wishbone's nose boasts tropical citrus notes of pineapple, lychee and brilliant pear accented by a light pine resin. Wishbone offers a medium mouthfeel with big, sweet hops balanced by a bready finish offered by mostly pale malt with a touch of Brewer's Oats, Maris Otter and Victory to add just enough backbone to support the intense hop quantities. With an aroma and taste more sessionable than it's 8% ABV body lets on, "This 'Bone's For You!"

CELEBRATED CONTRACT BREWING ADVOCATE BECOMES OFFICIAL BREWERY OWNER

Shmaltz Brewing Company Opens 50-Barrel Brewery,
with 20,000 Barrels of Capacity in Upstate New York

Brewing Production to Begin in April/May 2013;
Grand Opening on Sunday, July 7, 2013

Clifton Park, NY – Friday, March 22, 2013 – After 16 years as one of contract brewing's loudest cheerleader's, Shmaltz Brewing Company, handcrafters of HE'BREW–The Chosen Beer® and Coney Island Craft Lagers®, is breaking with tradition and opening its own New York State production brewery. Located in Clifton Park, NY, 10 minutes north of Albany’s capital district, Shmaltz's new home boasts a 50-barrel brewhouse with 20,000 barrels annual capacity. With a $3.25 million dollar budget and countless hours of planning and preparation, what began as an improbable fantasy only one year ago, has blossomed into a nearly 20,000 square foot brewing reality.

The first stainless kettles were delivered this week and the inaugural brew date is targeted for late-April. Packaging should commence in May and June, and Shmaltz projects bringing 100% of its production in-house by mid-to-late summer.

The heart of Shmaltz's new operation features a custom-made, 5-vessel manual workhorse brewhouse as well as 8 fermentation and 2 bright beer tanks manufactured in the US from Oregon’s JV Northwest. The 120-bottle-per-minute packaging line comes from the well respected Italian experts at SBC /BC International. The new Shmaltz brewery will package 12 and 22 ounce bottles and kegs of their diverse core and seasonal favorites. Several new releases and collaborations are on tap for 2013, and Shmaltz will continue their acclaimed exploration of barrel-aging with a current inventory of more than 300 bourbon , rye whiskey, and tequila barrels.

The brewery projects hiring upwards of 10 full time staff for the new operation in addition to the dozen staffers currently handling sales, marketing and contract brewing operations. The space also touts a 1,700 square foot tasting room, and roughly 800 square feet of office space.

Even with this new beginning, Shmaltz will be piloted under the watchful and experienced eye s of the same dynamic team that's brought the craft beer world many years of delicious beer and delicious shtick, including Jeremy Cowan (Proprietor), Bob Craven (General Manager), Matt Polacheck (Art Director), Zak Davis (National Sales Manager), Jesse P. Cutler (PR Director), and Paul McErlean (Consulting Brewmaster who created every recipe in Shmaltz’s award winning family of beers).

Financing is coming from the judicious funding of loans from community-based Ballston Spa National Bank , the New York Business Development Corporation (NYBDC) using the SBA 504 program, and additional assistance from San Francisco-based Wells Fargo Bank. A limited amount of additional equity was raised from personal friends and family, many longtime supporters of Cowan and Shmaltz Brewing.

A press event and ribbon cutting ceremony will be announced shortly for late April or early May. The official, public grand opening bash will take place on Sunday, July 7, 2013. Specific details will be announced soon. Following the opening, craft beer enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the nectar of the new brewery gods at Shmaltz 's tasting room throughout the year. Brewery tours will be available to the public - times will be announced this summer.

What began in 1996 as a sincere experiment o f 100 cases of beer delivered out of the back of f o under Jeremy Cowan's grandmother' s Volvo, has grown into a 20 0,000 case per year operation (over 12,000 barrels) , grossing $3.9 million in sales in 2012, a 42% increase over 2011. The Shmaltz Tribe honors these contract brewing roots while embracing the miracle o f new life in Clifton Park, NY, envisioning its expansion as a 50 - barrel playground for brewing exceptional specialty beers and hosting a growing family o f enthusiastic consumers at its new home . Shmaltz Releases Latest Year Round Beer: Hop Manna IPA

HE'BREW BEER INTRODUCES ITS FIRST NEW YEAR-ROUND CREATION IN 4 YEARS:

Hop Manna IPA

Just when you thought there were no more Hop-related names left to exploit: Enter the Torah!
Dry Hopped, 6.8% Alc., 65 IBUs
February - March 2012 and beyond...

New York, San Francisco, Beyond - February 14, 2012 - All ye wandering the vast Macro Beer Desert, thirst no more! Introducing Hop Manna® -- the first-ever single IPA from HE'BREW Beer® and a gift from the Craft Beer Promised Land. Hop Manna® is the answer to hop heads prayers for a delicious IPA bearing floral and citrus flavors. At 65 IBUs and 6.8% ABV, Hop Manna® is crafted to provide session after session of hop nourishment from the Shmaltz Tribe to yours. Hop Manna® is now nationally available in 22 oz. bottles and a limited amount of draft at select bars.

The national craze for IPAs is at an all-time high. TheBeerBible.com announced in December 2011 that IPA is currently the second fastest growing category in the US with more than 40% growth over the past year. After 4 Test Batches throughout 2011, Hop Manna® is bound for glory as Shmaltz Brewing premieres an advance copy of the HE'BREW offering at SF Beer Week (February 10 - 19, 2012). Hop Manna® features six robust hops (Warrior, Cascade, Citra, Amarillo, Crystal, Centennial), three dry hops (Centennial, Cascade and Citra), and is balanced out with five delicious malts (Specialty 2-Row, Wheat, Munich, Vienna, CaraMunich 40). Not a San Diego IPA (enticing as they are) and not trying to re-create the excellent standouts from friends such as Dogfish, Founders, Lagunitas, Three Floyds and so many others, Hop Manna® aims to create a unique story -- and flavors - of its own.

Shmaltz is no stranger to hops. In celebration of their 10th Anniversary (2006), HE'BREW Beer® introduced its award-winning rye-based double IPA, Bittersweet Lenny's R.I.P.A.® (now available in 4-packs, 12 oz. bottles). The standout robust brew has become a year-round staple in the HE'BREW Beer® line-up; it's garnered a "98 Rating" on Ratebeer.com, and recently took home a Gold Medal at the 2011 World Beer Championships. Boston Phoenix touted Lenny's R.I.P.A.® by saying, "[Bittersweet Lenny's] pours a rich, deep mahogany color, topped with a billowing viscous head. The Flavor? Allow me to quote from my notes: WOW."

Shmaltz also recently redesigned both the packaging and the recipe for its original creation and flagship beer, He'brew Genesis Dry-Hopped Session Ale, which shipped to wholesalers nationally over the last 2 months.

From the label of Hop Manna®

In the book of Exodus, the ancient Hebrews survived 400 years of bondage before the ultimate supreme court dropped the 10 deadly Plagues on the land of the taskmasters and the head dictator, Pharaoh. Even then, only begrudgingly, did he Let My People Go. The freedom ride across, nay through the sea left a band of wandering nomads broke and suffering, no doubt with a profound hunger - and a mighty thirst. Enter the Manna: a glorious gift to nourish body and soul. Manna was said to combine the tastes of everything most delicious to each individual, depending on their desire. And as the Good Book says, Each shall gather according to one's need and shall enjoy a double portion for thine chosen day of rest. Manna fed the entire tribe, but tradition suggests the righteous received manna ground in a heavenly mill, while the wicked had to grind it below for themselves. Hear o' Tribe of Shmaltz - Behold: A celebration of the flower of the craft beer revolution! A golden opportunity to feed your inner hop head and rejoice in HOP MANNA, our newest delicacy of the modern He'brew Beer family. L'Chaim!

About Craft Beer Bar Mitzvah:
In his small business memoir, Jeremy Cowan divulges how he took on the craft beer world and ultimately created one of the most respected niche brands in the country. Craft Beer Bar Mitzvah tracks Cowan's evolution from the earliest days of hand squeezing pomegranates and delivering 100 cases of hand-bottled HE'BREW Beer® to winning awards 13 years later at top U.S. craft beer festivals. This meaningful, insightful and often hilarious memoir takes readers on a wild ride with the head of today's most successful and decorated Jewish Celebration Freak Show Craft Brewery.

To co-write and edit the tale of Craft Beer Bar Mitzvah, Cowan enlisted the help of longtime friend and professional journalist, James Sullivan. Sullivan worked as a staff writer for the San Francisco Chronicle and contributor to the Boston Globe. He is the author of three books: 7 Dirty Words: The Life and Crimes of George Carlin, The Hardest Working Man: How James Brown Saved the Soul of America, and Jeans: A Cultural History of an American Icon. Cowan entrusted Sullivan to help capture the intimate, purposefully conversational style of his story and to transform his writing from beer labels and sell sheets into a 300 plus page narrative.

On working with Cowan, James Sullivan assesses, "Jeremy puts all sorts of ingredients into his delicious beers, but the first one is always chutzpah. He sold the first cases of HE'BREW out of the trunk of his grandma's Volvo, and now it's available across the country. Same with Craft Beer Bar Mitzvah -- he self-published, and now he's got national distribution. Beer, perseverance and comedy: a very sessionable recipe."

A standout success story in the beer world, Shmaltz Brewing features two lines, HE'BREW Beer® and Coney Island Craft Lagers®, that have gained a dedicated cult following. A renowned contract brewer, Jeremy Cowan has developed Shmaltz into a nearly $3 million a year business with more than 10 employees. The brand has been highlighted with many distinguished media outlets including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, CNN, NPR "Weekend Edition," The Onion, and Beer Advocate Magazine. Craft Beer Bar Mitzvah captures the heart and soul of a visionary small business owner dedicated to producing exceptional handcrafted products, and turning on the average consumer to the delicious world of craft beer.

Shmaltz and Terrapin Team Up To Release Reunion '11

SHMALTZ BREWING & TERRAPIN BEER PRESENT:

Reunion Ale '11: A Beer For Hope

Dark Imperial Brown Ale Brewed with Cocoa Nibs, Vanilla and Chili Peppers

Proceeds Benefiting the Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research

New York, NY - Teaming up as a brewing partner with Terrapin Beer Company and Alan Shapiro of SBS Imports, Shmaltz Brewing is proud to participate for the first time in creating Reunion Ale '11: A Beer for Hope®. Now in its fifth year of production, Reunion® is brewed annually in memory of Virginia MacLean, a dear friend of Alan Shapiro (founder of SBS Imports) and Pete Slosberg's (creator of Pete's Wicked Ale) and a dedicated cancer research supporter who lost her own battle with Multiple Myeloma in 2007. It was her wish to raise funds and awareness on behalf of the Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research, and a portion of the proceeds from Reunion Ale '11® is donated directly to the IMBCR. Reunion Ale '11® is now available in 22 oz bottles and a limited amount of draft in the nearly 40 U.S. states that receive distribution from Terrapin and Shmaltz, and in Western Canada through Shmaltz's distribution network. National fundraising events will occur throughout the fall and winter. Please see the line-up of upcoming events listed below.

Inspired by a delicious dessert at MacLean's favorite restaurant, Reunion Ale '11® is a dark, Imperial Brown Ale brewed with vanilla, chili peppers, and cocoa nibs from Nashville, Tennessee's Olive and Sinclair Chocolate Company. Brewmasters Spike Buckowski (Terrapin Beer Co.), Pete Slosberg, Paul McErlean (Shmaltz Brewing Co.), and Shmaltz Brewing proprietor Jeremy Cowan designed this year's recipe to combine sweet and spicy aromas with complex malt flavors and decadent vanilla and chocolate overtones. After the initial blissful sips, the chilies build a subtle and satisfying heat in the finish.

Reunion was conceived initially by Shapiro, MacLean and Slosberg - who all met during the early days of Pete's Brewing Company - as a way to increase awareness of myeloma and bone cancer and raise donations for the IMBCR. Although MacLean passed away just four months after the release of Reunion® 2007, the Reunion project has carried on the vision of these three friends, raising more than $130,000 for the IMBCR through bottle and draft sales of Reunion®, retailer fundraising events, and private donations. "Virginia emphasized the importance of continuing our support of IMBCR," Shapiro explains. "She believed wholeheartedly in the work of the Institute and understood the value of bringing hope to others." "Every dollar we raise goes directly to IMBCR to fund research," adds co-founder Pete Slosberg. Beer lovers can also donate money through the Reunion website, the Reunion Facebook page, or the IMBCR website.

Although Reunion Ale '11® is Shmaltz Brewing's first collaboration with Shapiro and Slosberg, Jeremy Cowan's relationship with the two dates back to the San Francisco craft beer scene in the 1990s. "Shmaltz is extremely pleased to join the Reunion family for 2011," says Cowan. "Tzedakah (charity) is one of the core values of Shmaltz Brewing. To be able to work with longtime industry friends on this project makes it even more special for our entire company."

Reunion Ale '11® is one of several exceptional collaboration projects in which Shmaltz will participate in 2011. The next release will be the second edition of Geektoberfest®, a collaborative blend of six barrel-aged beers from New York brewers Shmaltz Brewing, Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, and Ithaca Beer Company. Geektoberfest® is the official beer of NY Craft Beer Week (Sept. 16 - 25, 2011), and will be available on draft at select Beer Week events and participating beer bars in New York City.

National fundraising and featured beer events will commence throughout the fall and winter to raise funds and awareness for the Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research.
