A Celebration of Beer, Food and People, for a Good Cause
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Brooklyn, NY - Feburary 1, 2011) BeerAdvocate and Sixpoint are joining forces to host a phenomenal cultural event showcasing creative beers, food, and people, all in the name of compassion toward animals. Beer for Beasts will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at The Bell House, located in Gowanus section (149 7th Street) of Park Slope in Brooklyn, NY, with all proceeds benefiting The Humane Society of New York City.
"We've hosted over 30 beer fests, but Beer for Beasts has already become close to our hearts. We're excited to be working with our friends at Sixpoint to celebrate our passion for good beer, food, people, and our love for animals," said BeerAdvocate founder Todd Alström.
Making the event even more extraordinary, Sixpoint will present at least 16 brand new beers, all brewed exclusively for Beer for Beasts. Many of these beers will be collaborative brews, made with other members of the community at Sixpoint's facility. The beers at Beer for Beasts will be the cumulative effort of months of collaboration, mentorship, and "Mad Scientist" innovation, with each member of the Sixpoint staff proudly representing a brew of their own. "Our goal is to showcase a community overflowing with talent, and celebrate their ingenuity and genuine good spirit with our friends by fostering a really positive experience," said Shane Welch, Sixpoint Brewery President.
And to help kick off this annual event in raucous style will be live entertainment from JerseyFresh Burlesque and other local artists, plus beer-friendly food pairings from Calexico, Mile End, Pizza Moto, Prime Meats, and Brooklyn Soda Works.
Beer for Beasts tickets will be $60 (all inclusive) and available via Brown Paper Tickets. Ticket price includes access to one session (1-5pm or 6-10pm), all beer tastings, food, and entertainment. All attendees must be 21+ with a valid ID. Tickets go on sale Friday - February 4, 2011. Tickets are limited.

About Sixpoint
Sixpoint Brewery was born out of an 800 square foot garage in Brooklyn, New York City in 2004 by homebrewer Shane Welch, who had amassed over 1000 individual homebrew recipes. The brewery's name is derived from the ancient six-pointed brewers' star, which had symbolically adorned the walls and equipment of ancient breweries since at least the Medieval period. Sixpoint's motto is "Beer is Culture" to highlight the human trajectory - the earliest human civilizations were founded upon the cultivation of cereal grains for making beer. Sixpoint aims to perpetually inspire the art, creativity, and community generated through beer by acknowledging the history of the craft, while forging ahead to inspire culture in a modern setting. http://facebook.com/sixpoint
