The Vanderbilt restaurant in Prospect Heights Brooklyn has two beer-centric events happening next week.
CLAMBAKE & KELSO BEER DINNER
The Vanderbilt & Kelso of Brooklyn are practically neighbors, so it’s about time that they've teamed up for one of the restaurant's beer dinners. The gastropub and microbrewery will be pairing their locally brewed drafts with Chef's Saul Bolton's menu a summer clambake for a four beer, four-course sit-down feast on Tuesday, August 2 at 7:30 PM. The Vanderbilt clambake menu includes a tomato and watermelon salad and St. Louis Barbecue Pork Steak rounding out for a perfect summer dinner. Tickets and reservations are available now by calling 718.623.0570 or emailing info@thevanderbiltnyc.com.
THE BARMAN'S FUND & BROOKLYN BREWERY
The Barman’s Fund is a collection of bartenders around New York City who pledge to donate every dollar they make on their first shift of the month to charity. On Friday, August 5 starting at 11 pm, the Barman's Fund will continue their do-good drink slinging and will be pouring pints donated by Brooklyn Brewery GRATIS. The Barmen invite all of the legal drinking age to come support their fundraising goals to raise money for local charities at The Vanderbilt restaurant in Brooklyn. Proceeds from this month's events will be donated to the Brooklyn Free Clinic. Admission is free and open to the public. Tips are encouraged, of course.

Official "Smallest Ribbon Cutting Ceremony"
Wednesday, August 10, 2011
Coney Island Brewing Company
3008 W. 12th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11224
Time: 5:30 pm
Fully-licensed as of June 24, 2011, Coney Island Brewing Company is officially the smallest commercial brewery in the world with a production capacity yielding approximately one gallon of beer per batch. Along with special guest brewers, the CIBC brewing staff will craft three original beers each week to be bottled and sold at the brewery in collectible Coney Island Brewing Company packaging. All recipes brewed at CIBC are exclusive releases inspired by the local artistic and gastronomical landscape. Recent batches include a Pumpernickel Bagel Porter; a Red, White, and Blueberry Hefeweizen; and a Caramel Apple Ale. Shmaltz Brewing's Coney Island Craft Lagers® and HE'BREW Beers® are also for sale at the brewery, and a limited amount of beer sampling will be available on premise.
Amid the controversy, chaos, and uncertainty surrounding the future of Coney Island, Shmaltz Brewing Company is proud to both honor the history and to participate in the ongoing evolution of America's Playground. A recipient of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce's "Distinguished Business Award" and recently named "Best American Craft Brewer (2010)" by Beverage World Magazine, Shmaltz continues its ambitious efforts to bottle Coney Island's unique culture and ferment excitement for the neighborhood's regeneration through the opening of Coney Island Brewing Company.
Coney Island Brewing Company's storefront was made possible by a fellowship from Coney Island USA as part of their small business incubator program, which runs through 2011 and up until December 2012. Although the "World's Smallest Brewery" will remain in operation as a permanent wonder and curiosity in Coney Island for many years to come, Shmaltz
Brewing is looking forward to future expansion plans for the brewery to a larger location in the summer of 2013.
Coney Island Brewing Company will be open for business during the summer through Labor Day Weekend and likely until Halloween, and the hours of operation are: Thursday - Sunday, 12 pm - 6 pm. The brewery is located at 3008 W. 12th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11224, directly adjacent to the Coney Island Circus Sideshow and Museum.
About Shmaltz Brewing Company

Along with their acclaimed line of HE'BREW Beers®, Shmaltz introduced its new line of sideshow-inspired Coney Island Craft Lagers®. Samuel Adams Beer Lover's Choice National Taste Test Coming To New York
**Editor's Note** This is the second year in a row that Sam Adams has selected this festival as a polling place. Here is our review of last year's choices.
Rock Hill, NY. July 13, 2011 - The International Great Beer Expo being held at the Rock Hill Fire Department on July 23, 2011 was just named as an official polling place for the 2011 Samuel Adams Beer Lover's Choice national taste test. It will be one of only two Hudson Valley locations where the voting will take place. Representatives from Samuel Adams will be on hand at the beer festival to meet attendees and to preside over the polling station. www.GreatBeerExpo.com/RockHill
Since 2005 the brewers of Samuel Adams have been offering drinkers a voice in choosing one of the new beers they will introduce in the coming year. This summer the trend continues as the Boston Beer Company, the makers of Samuel Adams, will take two recipes on the road to be judged in a head-to-head consumer taste test. "There were only two Hudson Valley locations selected as official polling places for the 2011 Beer Lover's Choice voting," said Lauren McCarthy, District Manager for the Boston Beer Company. "We selected the International Great Beer Expo at the Rock Hill Fire Department and the Renaissance Fair. We look forward to meeting the local craft beer lovers."
Ticket holders for the International Great Beer Expo at Rock Hill Fire Department will be able to sample and vote for one of the 2011 Beer Lover's Choice contestants:
(SAMPLE A) Samuel Adams® Oaked Ale: a deep red ale with an aroma of mocha and toffee, married with a subtle earthiness from the UK hops. Distinct notes of oak come through in the flavor of this medium-bodied brew. The malty sweetness and slight roastiness of the blend of malts nicely balance this oak character. With a smooth and clean finish, this brew has a lingering sweetness and a hint of oak on the finish.
(SAMPLE B) Samuel Adams® Maple Pecan Porter: sweet New England maple syrup and a distinct pecan character define this balanced porter. The roasted character of the blend of malts complements the maple sweetness with notes of coffee and chocolate. Reddish-black in color, this full-bodied brew has a sweet and slightly tangy nutty finish.
"Each year, we're amazed by how many drinkers across the country participate in the Beer Lover's Choice program," said Jim Koch, Samuel Adams founder and brewer. "The contest gives craft beer lovers an opportunity to enjoy new brews and broaden their palates."
Last summer, the Beer Lover's Choice contest yielded over 66,000 votes from coast-to-coast. Enthusiasts tasted two new Samuel Adams beer styles, Samuel Adams Revolutionary Rye and Samuel Adams Belgian IPA, and voted for their favorite. Drinkers evaluated the Beer Lover's Choice contending brews on five different characteristics: color, aroma, taste, mouth-feel and finish. Both the Belgian IPA (Sample A) and Samuel Adams Revolutionary Rye (Sample B) received rave reviews. But in the end, the Rye had it with 63 percent of the vote.
A fire department fundraiser, the International Great Beer Expo (www.GreatBeerExpo.com/RockHill ) will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011 from 2:00pm-6:00pm at the Rock Hill Fire Department located at 61 Glen Wild Road, Rock Hill, N.Y. 12775. A limited number of tickets will be sold. Tickets are $40 each when purchased in advance at the event website www.GreatBeerExpo.com/RockHill or $55 at the door, if available. Tickets include admission to the event, a souvenir tasting glass, and the freedom to enjoy a 2 oz. sample of any of the beers present at the Expo. Designated driver tickets are also available for $10 each. No one under 21 will be admitted and photo ID is required for every entry. Food will be available for sale, it is not included in the price of the ticket. For tickets and information, visit: www.GreatBeerExpo.com/RockHill
